Tagged District was created in 2015 in San Diego,Ca by Rae, who she fondly refers to herself as the mayor of Tagged District. Tagged District was started as project to show to here professors that she could use the skills she has learned outside of school. At first it was just a project, but with some encouragement from some of her peers she entered her first official market as Tagged District in March of 2015 at SDSU to sell some of the items she had made.

In Rae’s youth she always had a fascination with clothing design. With her grandfather being a Tailor, it inspired her to draw dresses as a journaling method to express herself. There wasn’t much thought to do it as a career but it soon developed into her experimenting with her style in school to later down the road working in retail specifically at fashion stores. With fast fashion being at such a high point the low quality and wastefulness really struck a cord with Rae. She noticed it was all by design to have specific pieces that only go with others and not much room for basic pieces that can still have personality.

Tagged District now is all about experimenting with your look, having your favorite pieces you were all the time, and finding new ways to make things that can last a little longer. Tagged District tries to incorporate up cycling in some of the work to also combat landfill additions, so if you see Rae and she asks you “when you are done with that shirt before throwing it away, can you give it to me?” it is because she wants to give it that second life.
